I started producing videos in 2004 and since then have continued to learn and develop in all areas of production, particularly editing. This is a journey I think I’ll continue for a long long time. I’ve worked as a professional musician for about 17 years. I also have degrees in Commerce and Law and experience as a financial controller in small / medium business.
The things I enjoy most about running Digital Black are editing, writing and recording soundtracks for the videos we shoot and working with clients to find creative ways to tell their story and get it out there. I’m also really happy with the work we’ve done on the Just My Story series, a project where we’ve been able to use what we do to make a positive difference in the world. We are committed to developing more content in the future with the aim of inspiring social change.
Outside of work I am a novice vege gardener, poor surfer, has-been swimmer and proud dad.
Prior to Digital Black I was based in London for 13 years, where I spent the best part of 10 years working for the UKs largest pay TV provider, Sky Television.
During that time I was involved in implementing a number of Sky’s ground breaking initiatives and numerous marketing campaigns that took the subscriber base from 2 million to 10 million customers. I witnessed a paradigm shift in the way entertainment, information and brand marketing are served up and consumed. This change continues at a rapid pace today and at Digital Black, I enjoy the challenge of helping clients create great content and take their place in the evolving digital media landscape.
Outside of work when I am not making coffee for Martin and Jason, or changing baby nappies, I am a wannabe triathlete, a ‘soft’ mountain biker, keen music listener and envious of people who still have their own hair.
I’ve been engineering and producing music of all descriptions for around 20 years. It was from there that I picked up a camera and began shooting music film clips around 2003.
I started working with Martin and Joe in 2007. My experience in creating the edgy quality required for music video has worked well as I’ve expanded into documentary and corporate work with Digital Black.
I’ve also been fortunate in recent times to engineer for some great recording artists in Nashville. It’s the mix of music and video that keeps things interesting for me. I love the search for good pictures, sweet sounds and great stories.
